Geert Janssens is a radiation oncologist and associate professor working at the department of radiotherapy of the UMC Utrecht and the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology. He graduated in medicine at the Catholic University Leuven (B) in 1998, and performed his residency at the University Hospitals Leuven and  the CHU-UCL Namur – site Sainte Elisabeth. From 2003 till 2014 he was fulltime staff member at the Radboudumc, Nijmegen, where developed special expertise in head & neck as well as pediatric oncology.  He received his PhD entitled: “ARCON for laryngeal cancer” at the Radboud Univerisity Nijmegen (promotor: Prof. J. Kaanders). The creation of a National Cancer Institute for Pediatric Oncology, combining patient care, research and eduction related to pediatric cancer, has been his main motivation to move to Utrecht by the end of 2014.

His clinical interests are radiotherapy in pediatric patients with cancer. His scientific interests focus on pediatric renal tumors and brain tumors, late toxicity in childhood cancer survivors, the implementation of state-of-the-art techniques in pediatric oncology, and pediatric onco-policy.
