Gert Meijer graduated in Experimental Physics at the University of Utrecht in 1992. He was trained as clinical physicist from 1996 until 1999 at the radiotherapy department of the Netherlands Cancer Institute / Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Huis. During this period he laid the foundation of his Ph.D. thesis entitled ‘Clinical implementation of high-precision radiotherapy for urogenital tumours’ and graduated in 2004 at the University of Amsterdam.
In 1999 he started as a clinical physicist at the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven with a special research interests in dose painting for lung tumours and library planning for bladder tumours.
After twelve exiting years he moved to the radiotherapy department of the University Medical Centre Utrecht and is currently involved in the clinical introduction of the MRI-linac specifically for the treatment of esophageal and pancreatic cancers.
